100-Plus Places to Avoid Winter Restaurant Week Insanity

It’s once again Winter Restaurant Week in D.C., which means over 250 restaurants around town are offering special prix fixe menus at the discounted price of $22 for lunch and $35 for dinner. And a $22 brunch option hatched for this first time this year.

But what about diners who wish to avoid the promotion (Jan. 30 through Feb. 5) — whether they're ducking crowds, averse to preprogrammed dining or have other concerns about the deal?

Here's a list of about 100 new, interesting, or reliable places which are not participating in the official Restaurant Week (though some may have competing deals of their own), conveniently organized by neighborhood.

Whether you're team Restaurant Week or not, it's unarguably an economy booster, so all should think about supporting local restaurants this week.
