A futuristic bar that celebrates all things sports is now up and running on H Street NE.
The 10,000-square-foot experiment (700 H Street NE), appropriately dubbed Future of Sports, is a bar-meets-underground playground for fans of all kinds of athletics. Rooms dedicated to various sports, from tennis to boxing, get a modern twist with pops of funky color and neon lighting.
The Washington Nationals may be out of the pennant race, but the bar still plans to air all local teams playing this weekend on giant projectors — including the Wizards and Redskins games. Sponsorships are still in the works to feed attendees free pizza and wings at certain times of the day.
The team behind the Dupont Circle club Heist is handling the liquor lineup (think: Absolut vodka, cognac, and Jameson whiskey), while new H Street neighbor Dirty Water is slinging the fare. Cocktails run $9, while beer is $5.

The bar is open on weekends for now, with happy hours running from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The plan is to potentially open all week in the future.
“We have had an amazing response so we are hoping to grow more,” says founder Nicole Pinedo, whose company Made in the District outfitted the sporty space.
Future of Sports is projected to operate through Thursday, November 30.
