Opening Report

ARLnow reports that G.O.A.T., a new sports bar boasting 60-some TVs, two levels, and a private “champagne room,” has finally opened in Clarendon. Co-founder Mike Cordero has put together a menu featuring fusion tacos and baked Alaska. Status: Certified open. 3028 Wilson Boulevard, Arlington, Va.; website. [ARLnow]

The Shutter

A reader reports that nationwide chain Burgerfi has closed its location in Old Town Alexandria (111 N. Pitt Street). “Guess they couldn't compete with the expanded Five Guys,” the spy speculates. The quick-service eatery continues to operate stores in Leesburg, Virginia, Woodbridge, Virginia, and Silver Spring, Maryland.

Expansions

A tipster alerts PoPville about some recent construction at neighborhood standby Dukem Ethiopian restaurant. A snapshot of permitting paperwork suggests the U Street eatery is interested in adding a rooftop deck (or possibly a second story). [PoPville]

Food Fight

Someone on Capitol Hill spent at least part of October 18 obsessing about condiments. The Twitter bot congress-edits noticed a change to a photo of a Fuddruckers hamburger that previously included a line about spicy nacho cheese. An armchair editor modified that to read “ketchup” — the only sauce visible in the picture.

Twitter user pinkatydid was moved by seeing democracy in action:
