A decades-old rift between members of the family that own San Francisco-based seafood restaurant Tadich Grill has jeopardized the brand’s bottom line in D.C. “What happened as a result of the press and social media, the restaurant never developed a solid local clientele, and that’s key to a restaurant,” Icon Inc. president Gerard Centioli told the Washington Post about the uphill battle the restaurant has fought in the District due to allegations of racism.

Nationwide chain Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams is unveiling its latest creation, a dairy-free dark chocolate truffle, Friday, November 10, at its shop on 14th Street NW. The new flavor is made with coconut cream and cocoa.
Brand wars
Homegrown chain &pizza is suing a Scottish company attempting to establish an @pizza operation overseas. &pizza is seeking $2 million in damages for trademark and copyright infringement, unfair competition and trespass. [Washington Business Journal]
Annapolis gets more nachos
Tex-Mex chain Chuy’s is opening its next restaurant in Annapolis, Maryland. The new location (2339 Forest Drive) is scheduled to begin serving chips and salsa, chile rellenos, and giant burritos at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 14. The first 50 people in line will win free food for one year.
