Local cold brew producer Junius Coffee is opening its first hot coffee bar inside Eckington standby Yang Market (138 U Street NE) on Friday, December 1. Washington City Paper reports that Junius plans to serve drip and pour-over coffees as well as draft cold brew. Chopped alum and Coconut Club founder Adam Greenberg is expected to supply Yang with grab-and-go items including soups and flavored cream cheeses.
Columbia Heights gets a biking bar
Nightlife impresarios Eric and Ian Hilton are adding a cycling-themed venue to their portfolio with Bar Roubaix, the new drinking den replacing Acre 121 (1400 Irving Street NW) in Columbia Heights. Barred in DC says to expect “European street food” and “great beers” when the new spot debuts Friday, December 8.
Expansions
Local Tex-Mex chain Guapo’s is taking over the former Orange Anchor space in the Georgetown waterfront. Washington Business Journal reports that Guapo’s owners plan to branch out a bit at the 110-seat location by incorporating dishes from their native Columbia to the menu.

Popville has spotted signage downtown for international chain Joe & The Juice’s first location in D.C., but predicts that any opening is “still a ways away.”
