Dessert and a show
Roving Australian sweets-slinger Knafeh Bakery is working the District into its world tour, unleashing its bearded, singing dessert-makers on the city starting today.
The mobile kitchen, which recently spent some time in New York, plans to set up shop from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, November 9, at the White House farmers market before migrating to Union Market for a weekend stand at rum distillery Cotton & Reed.
Whaley’s gets wintery
So long, rosé garden. Hello, warm cider drinks and s’mores. Navy Yard fixture Whaley’s is switching things up this season with a new rum cart inside (think: build-your-own Old Fashioneds), as well an outdoor area stocked with fire pits, blankets, and hot drinks. [Washingtonian]
New barbecue option in Petworth
Newcomer Cabana Grill is now serving rotisserie chicken, brisket, and boneless lamb out of the old Epiphany BBQ space (4128 Georgia Avenue NW). The meaty upstart also offers assorted sandwiches (smoked sausage, steak and cheese, fried fish). [Popville]
Sip cider all week long
Several Northern Virginia restaurants are pouring local and imported ciders from Friday, November 10, through Sunday, November 19, as part of Virginia’s annual cider week. Participants include beer-friendly Pizza Paradiso, French bistro Bastille, and dairy wonderland Cheesetique. [Northern Virginia Magazine]
