Did the recent departure of Southwest watering hole Cantina Marina spark a retreat from Tex-Mex dining across the entire area? Two other Central American-themed eateries have called it quits since the celebrated happy hour spot went on an extended hiatus in October. Then again, a new taqueria and margarita spot just materialized in Potomac, Md., so perhaps all is not entirely lost.

CRYSTAL CITYArlnow reports that decades-old Cantina Mexicana is done serving Mexican food along Crystal’s City’s restaurant row (515 23rd Street S.). The local chainlet, which still has an outpost off Columbia Pike (922 S. Walter Reed Drive, Arlington, Va.), got its start in 1978 as the Taco House.

MULTIPLE LOCATIONS—Bye, bye Bruegger’s Bagels. As of Sunday, December 10, four of the nationwide chain’s D.C.-area locations have officially closed. An outpost in Arlington, Virginia, appears to be the lone survivor.

ROSSLYN—Year-old neighborhood eatery Pancho Villa Mexican Cuisine (1850 Fort Myer Drive, Arlington, Va.)is no more. Arlnow reports that some furniture remains but that the interior has otherwise been emptied out.
