A tipster spotted new signage outside Mayahuel Cocina Mexicana, the forthcoming eatery taking over the space formerly occupied by Bar Civita (2609 24th Street NW). Neighboring restaurant District Kitchen is the driver behind the new addition, which is expected to feature tequila, tacos, sangria, and more.

Dallas-based chain Dickey’s Barbecue Pit opens Tuesday, December 19, in Ashburn, Virginia. The latest outpost in Northern Virginia (20020 Ashbrook Commons Plaza #106) is offering $2 pulled pork sandwiches (two per customer) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. as part of the grand opening promotion. Al Volo Trattoria & Bar has arrived

The ambitious crew behind Cucina Al Volo in Union Market has opened its debut trattoria in Cleveland Park. The new addition to the neighborhood has moved into the former Ripple space (3417 Connecticut Avenue NW), bringing with it gourmet desserts and a still-in-the-works pasta bar. [Popville]

Dolcezza’s new coffee bar will be luxe

Local chain Dolcezza’s permanent home at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden will take the shape of a 20-foot coffee bar designed by Japanese architect Hiroshi Sugimoto. The lobby-based eatery is expected to debut in February 2018. [Architectural Digest]
