Homegrown roaster and burgeoning chain Compass Coffee opened two new locations Wednesday, December 20, unveiling twin shops just blocks from one another along downtown’s bustling business corridor.
Hey D.C. today we are opening TWO CAFES! Come enjoy a drink on us, all day long at 17th & H street and 14th & I ✌️☕️

One outpost debuted at 800 17th Street NW — which happens to be on the opposite side of the block from an existing downtown location (1776 Eye Street NW). The other has taken up residence by Franklin Square (14th and Eye streets NW), an arrival hailed by caffeine junkies at the neighboring Washington Post.
The shop that will keep the @washingtonpost presses humming. Or at least keep us awake when the CMS grinds to a halt. https://t.co/hXMgyuDfUl

Both locations are offering free drinks — any size, all day — to celebrate this latest growth spurt.
The company’s latest expansion increases its footprint here on its home turf. The flagship roastery debuted in late 2014 in Shaw; subsequent outposts have cropped up in Chinatown, downtown, and in the lobby of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center over the past few years. And the branching out is far from over: a second roastery is in the works in Ivy City. Compass products are also featured at restaurants and markets throughout the area.
