The team behind popular Columbia Heights beer haven Meridian Pint intends to plant a flag in Virginia for the first time next year with a new branch dubbed Dominion Pint.

Details are scant for now, but founder John Andrade — who broadened his portfolio in a similar fashion in late 2014 with the arrival of Brookland Pint — confirms he’s a few weeks away from closing a deal to set up shop in North Arlington. The seasoned restaurateur doesn’t want to jinx the future location by revealing an address just yet, but confirms it’s not in Clarendon or Ballston.

“This will be one of my smaller-sized ones. Probably more in line with Smoke & Barrel,” he says of the Adams Morgan barbecue operation he also has a hand in. The plan is to debut the new Arlington bar at the “tail end” of 2018.

Andrade counts Italian-themed newcomer Rosario as his “little gem” at the moment. He notes that it and Brookland Pint will play host to a series of “casual” parties this New Year’s Eve; Rosario’s romantic setup is projected to include wine, pastas, and champagne.
