El Techo Is Heating Things Up in January

Plus, Shop Made in DC swaps food vendors

SHAW—El Techo has a foil for this bonkers-cold weather. Come January 5th, the rooftop adult treehouse is transforming into “Casa Verde,” or, greenhouse. Hot and cold cocktails will be on offer to accompany El Techo’s Latin American street food. Expect plenty of greenery to deck out the 15-foot cathedral tent that’s just been installed (and will of course be heated.)

DUPONT—The cafe at Shop Made in DC is switching over to new food vendors. January 2nd brings Prescription Chicken and Jinsei Juice to the docket, bringing matzah ball soup and cold-pressed juices and tonics, respectively. The pair are slinging their goods through the month of January.

DOWNTOWN—POPVille has it on good authority that beloved Capitol Hill stalwart Bagels and Baguettes — which closed last year — is reopening downtown; 901 New York Ave NW should be the spot. B&B had operated in the same spot on Massachusetts Ave. NE for more than 20 years and was forced to close due to redevelopment-related construction. [POPVille]
