Mini news bites for the morning

[Bardo Beer]

Opening Alert

Bardo this past weekend began a month-long soft opening in Navy Yard, welcoming craft beer lovers to its new riverfront plot (25 Potomac Ave. SE). Barred in DC reports that the open-air beer garden has plenty of room for adults, kids and dogs to run wild. Per management, the new brewery/hangout is expected to function “sporadically” from now until April 3.

Visitors are encouraged to monitor Twitter for schedule changes and general announcements. [BID]

Sausage Party

The Federal City Brothers food truck Thursday plans to unveil its new jalapeno cheddar sausage sandwich, a specialty offering featuring a smoked Logan’s Sausage link infused with cheese and hot peppers, and then smothered in cool ranch sauce and crunchy onions. Look for it at Farragut Square.

Birthday Shots at Espita

Espita Mezcaleria intends to celebrate its one year anniversary (March 8) by offering a complimentary pour of Pepe Jimenez-made mezcal with any purchase. The restaurant also plans to resurrect a number of popular cocktails from March 6 through March 12, including the Oaxacan Sour (mezcal, bitters, lemon and pineapple) and The Guajillo Mango Highball (spicy soda, mango juice and mezcal).

The Shutter

Richard Sandoval’s fusion restaurant Zengo closed Tuesday. A Circa is expected to move into the space before the end of the year.
