Opening Day is almost here, and The Bullpen (1201 Half Street SE) is getting into the swing of things this weekend. The ballpark adjacent-hangout is scheduled to open at 1 p.m. Friday, March 31 for those interested in catching the Washington Nationals and Boston Red Sox engage in preseason play (game time: 4:05 p.m.). The Bullpen plans to open at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 3 to cater to those flooding into Navy Yard for the Nats home opener against the Miami Marlins (1:05 p.m.). Per a release, The Bullpen’s standing happy hour special — $5 drinks from the third inning through the seventh inning — is back this season.
Rise and Dine
Brookland’s Finest Bar & Kitchen is opening up even earlier beginning Monday, April 3, adding weekday breakfast service to the dining rotation. Featured entrees include a chorizo-green chile burrito ($14), a lox platter with Bullfrog Bagels and house-cured salmon spread ($15), and a club sandwich stuffed with pork roll and cheddar eggs ($12). The restaurant also intends to have grab-and-go options including assorted pastries (biscuits, muffins, breads) as well as Zeke’s Coffee. Breakfast will be available from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., Monday through Friday.
