Central is celebrating the legacy of its late founder, French-born pastry chef turned restaurateur Michel Richard, with a tribute dinner featuring a quartet of the the bon vivant’s signature dishes. The prix fixe program ($80 per person; $125 with optional wine pairings) prepared by executive chef and Richard mentee David Deshaies includes: smoked salmon terrine, lobster ravioli with Citronelle emulsion, 72-hour braised short ribs, and profiteroles.
The prix fixe program — according to the restaurant’s Facebook page, a portion of the proceeds is expected to go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital — is scheduled to be available today through Saturday.

PoPville got word that Farmbird, a grilled chicken enterprise that participated in Union Kitchen’s most recent “Meet the Makers” event, is moving into 625 H St. NE. The forthcoming restaurant’s catering menu lists a variety of tongue-teasing options (think: chipotle masala, spicy adobo), and management boasts of using only humanely raised, locally sourced birds. The target opening date is “early 2017.”

The Falls Church News-Press reports that the Claros clan has closed family-run La Caraquena, a haven for fans of Venezuelan cooking (long live arepas!). Chef Raul Claros did not immediately respond to inquiries regarding the future of the Guy Fieri-approved establishment. [FCNP]
