Philly dining impresario Marc Vetri is scheduled to do some pie-slinging at the local Pizzeria Vetri (2221 14th Street NW) Monday, April 10, a surprise appearance timed to coincide with the The Brewers Association’s annual Craft Brew Conference (April 10-April 13). Pizzeria Vetri is hosting a tap takeover by fellow Pennsylvanians Victory Brewing Company from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m., and a Vetri aide said the James Beard Award-winning chef “will be experimenting in the kitchen during the takeover.”
No word on what type of brew-friendly fare Vetri plans to whip up throughout the evening (beyond his signature offerings), but Victory is projected to be pouring Headwaters Pale Ale and Prima Pils on draft, and should be offering Golden Monkey in bottles. Pizzeria Vetri is expected to host a “taco pizza night” on Thursday, April 13, from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. with Half Acre Beer Company out of Chicago. Both events are open to the general public.
Beer Here
Atlas Brew Works has created a new beer to help benefit local biking/hiking trails. The Washington Post reports that proceeds from the sale of newly released Rally Cry Session IPA — there’s a launch party scheduled for Tuesday, April 11, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at Wunder Garten (1101 First Street NE) — are expected to flow through to the Capital Trails Coalition. ANXO Cidery & Pintxos Bar is just itching to get outside. Per PoPville, the ambitious cider shop has applied to open a 10-seat “summer garden” at 711 Kennedy Street NW. [PoP]
Switcheroos
Rocklands Barbeque and Grilling Company is expected to close up shop in Bethesda on Sunday, April 16. Bethesda magazine reports that the space (819A Rockville Pike, Rockville, Md.) won’t stay empty for long; New York’s The Halal Guys are projected to take up residence there later this year. [Bethesda]
