Milk Bar’s Hunting for New Locations in D.C.

Logan Circle, The Wharf are on the short list of neighborhoods to break into

[Rachel Leah Blumenthal/Eater]

Milk Bar chef and founder Christina Tosi is psyched about dishing up Crack Pie and Cereal Milk soft serve beyond her current base of operations in CityCenterDC, and has begun actively searching for additional locations to open in other parts of the District.

Tosi told Eater in February that she was definitely interested in growing Milk Bar’s presence here in D.C., and recently shared with the Washington Post a few of the neighborhoods on her immediate radar. She told Eater she’s taken at least two trips down to The Wharf, and mentioned Georgetown, Navy Yard, and Logan Circle as possible contenders in her conversations with the Post.

As it stands now, Tosi envisions keeping any prospective Wharf location as a retail-only outpost, whereas she said the goal for the other outlet is to establish a multi-purpose facility able to accommodate baking classes and private events. “We're not trying to put a Milk Bar on every block,” she told the Post.

The plan is to launch at least one, if not both new properties, by the end of the year. In the meantime, Tosi is building bridges with other businesses by partnering with &pizza on a new Cereal Milk-based cookie and cream soda scheduled to debut Tuesday, April 18.
