Tax Day, slated for April 18 this year, spurs mixed emotions for many.
Some want to celebrate — having just calculated a sizable refund — while others may need to drown their sorrows after handing over a check to Uncle Sam.
No matter what the outcome, everyone deserves a reward for making it through the dreaded IRS filing day. Here are some restaurants giving customers a big break this Tuesday.

Find half-price burgers at this retro diner’s counter all day, with local Roseda beef between a custom Martin's potato bun.
BLT Steak

The downtown steakhouse will slash half off all alcoholic beverages all day. That includes all of BLT Steak's craft beers, wines by the bottle and by the glass, as well as the full selection of BLT's hand-crafted cocktails.

Get a free drip coffee with any purchase in the market from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., as well as the Corsa All’oro, a special cocktail composed of bourbon, lemon, honey ,and Fernet Contratto with an orange twist, served all day in the restaurant for $9.
CIRCA and Open Road Grill

Open Road in Merrifield, Va., and all the Circa bistros are offering happy hour pricing on beverages from noon to 7 p.m. to help take the edge off.
Garrett Popcorn Shops

A “tax on us” promotion at its Fashion Centre at Pentagon City location means there’s no sales tax on all Garrett Popcorn purchases. Just mention the Tax Day promo at checkout, active through April 21.
The Grill Room

From Tax Day through the end of the month, guests can sip on Télégramme by Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe, a wine from Châteauneuf du Pape in Southern Rhone, at a deeply discounted price. The winery has a unique history of taxation — helping create a unified, superior product and eventually setting the standard of winemaking throughout France. Normally $25 a glass and $98 a bottle, it’s been reduced to $15 a glass and $60 a bottle during lunch and dinner.
Hula Girl
4044 Campbell Avenue, Shirlington, Va.
Chef and owner Mikala Brennan will work the bar at Hula Girl, offering an extended happy hour from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tax Day. Select bottles of wine will be on sale for $20; SPAM mitsubi, Waialua Root Beer sticky ribs, and Kalua pork crispy gau chee Are among the featured comfort foods.
