TaKorean Opening on U Street, Plus More Intel

Hen Quarter headed to Penn Quarter

[TaKorean]

TaKorean is opening its fourth location Tuesday, welcoming guests at 1301 U Street NW beginning at 11 a.m.

As part of the festivities, the homegrown chain of fast-casual fusion tacos is offering a free meal (up to $9) to the first 100 customers.

Switcheroos

Low Country-themed Hen Quarter is replacing it’s Tex-Mex-y sibling, Austin Grill, at 750 E Street NW. Penn Quarter Living reports that the projected opening could happen within the next week. [PQL]

Chef Shuffles

Jamie Rutherford, an alum of The Dabney and Tail Up Goat, is now in charge of the kitchen at Petworth Citizen — and she’s all about showcasing the spoils of the earth. "I’m trying to do this fine balance of introducing people to vegetables again," Rutherford tells Washington City Paper about her plan to green up the menu. [WCP]

Expansions

Latin chicken chain Pollo Campero is headed to 8662 Colesville Road in Silver Spring, Md. East MoCo writer Robert Dyer reports that construction has a way to go, but speculates that the place should do well — what with it adjacent to The Fillmore. “If they stay open late enough, they could make a killing on folks leaving concerts next door,” Dyer predicts.
