PENN QUARTERHotel Monaco (555 8th Street NW) will officially unveil its renovated patio on Saturday, April 29, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dirty Habit executive chef Kyoo Eom will greet guests and offer special pintxos and beef tartare. DJ CYD will provide party ambiance while being accompanied by a live percussionist. There will also be a fire breather on-site, because why not?

DUPONT CIRCLE—Next up on Red Apron Burger Bar’s “Burger of the Month” program is chef/founder Nate Anda’s take on the chivito sandwich, the national dish of Uruguay. His version is composed of Angus beef, smoked ham, hot dog, olive relish, mozzarella, tomato and mayo, all topped with a fried egg. Available beginning Monday, May 1, along with a new dessert The Fruity (layers of pineapple lime compote and Fruity Pebbles cereal).

DOWNTOWNArroz, the new Mike Isabella Concepts spot celebrating cuisine from Southern Spain and Morocco, is expected to launch weekend brunch starting Saturday, May 6. New snacks immediately available at the bar include fried Marcona almonds, marinated olives, and smoked tuna escabeche.

DOWNTOWN—Centrolina chef Amy Brandwein, up for Best Chef Mid-Atlantic at the upcoming James Beard Foundation Awards in Chicago, is already a winner: She’s setting sail on this fall on a cruise through the western Mediterranean. Her “Windstar Culinary Cruise Collection” itinerary, includes cooking for seafaring guests traveling to Italian cities including Alghero, Portovenere, Portoferraio, and Rome.
