Baba, the stay-all-day lounge that aims to gussy up grandma’s house, debuted last month in Clarendon beneath sister restaurant Ambar.

The 56-seat spot from co-founder Ivan Iricanin includes antique chandeliers, a bar top fashioned from reclaimed wood, and complimentary Wi-Fi and dedicated USB outlets throughout.

There’s tapas-style Balkan dishes in the evenings, and coffee and breakfast fare from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. for early risers.

The Authentic AF News: Instagrammer @almozza enjoyed “great Serbian-themed cocktails and tapas food & of course Serbian hospitality. I think couple of "Belgrades by night" and "Baba Sazerac" did their job.” [Instagram]

The Booze News: Instagrammer @monicapegah was “pretending to be fancy at Baba Bar” with an Elderflower cocktail. Facebooker Marija Milivojevic says the drinks are “Prohibition style cocktails, interesting flavor combos, very good.” Yelper Shereen H.’s two favorites cocktails are the Brazilian Smash and the Serbian Sombrero and their daily punch is “very enjoyable.” Yelper Jack M. had “great cocktails executed deftly.” [Instagram, Facebook, Yelp]

The Good To The Last Drop News: Facebooker Jen Baker says “the service, the drinks, the music, the vibe is something I've only experienced in my town at the former Eleventh,” while Stephanie Conrad “loved everything about this place!! I'm still drooling over the food and can't wait to go back for my morning coffee.” Instagrammer @hellococktails “had a great time checking out @bababar_clarendon's new space! The But First, Coffee News: Yelper Shereen H. works downtown and “was so excited to hear that they'd be serving La Colombe coffee.” She “especially enjoyed the mocha and the Balkan eggs ... They could do better with the cornbread basket, $6 for two small pieces served on a plate is a bit steep (but they were delicious!).” [Yelp]

The Food and Friends News: Yelper Ivana G. said the variety of tapas on colorful plates are “to die for” and calls Baba the “perfect place to relax with friends while enjoying quality cocktails and tapas, and if you like to dance there is a DJ spinning after 10 p.m. every night.” Yelper Karina B. said the “restaurant/bar is very cozy and it's a great place to catch up with friends.” [Yelp]
