The universe of happy hours keeps expanding.
Recent arrival Honeysuckle officially joined the ranks of places to decompress after work on April 3, rolling out food and drinks specials available from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. There’s discounted beers ($5) — including local pours such as Port City Brewing’s Optimal Wit, and Hellbender Brewing Company’s Bare Bones Kolsch — house wines ($7), and cocktails ($7), as well as new bar snacks. Featured additions include salt cod tater tots ($10), and a buttered crawfish sandwich ($12).
Across town, Policy is extending happy hour into the weekend. The nearly decade-old lounge is offering budget-friendly beers ($4.50), wines ($5.50), and cocktails ($6.50) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturdays. Seasonal snacks include fried yucca with dipping sauce ($4), chorizo-stuffed patacon sandwiches ($7), as well as mushroom-, shrimp- or chicharon-filled arepas ($9 each).
Taste NYC
Online retailer FreshDirect is now delivering specialty foods from New York to D.C., parts of Northern Virginia, and Bethesda, Maryland. The recent expansion into the DMV (as of April 5) allows customers to try Empire State exports including pizza from Roberta’s, pulled pork from Dinosaur BBQ, and frozen treats from Big Gay Ice Cream.
