Restaurateur José Andrés’ flagship Spanish property Jaleo is projected to debut in the Sunshine State in 2018, opening at an iconic Walt Disney World resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
Andrés’ expansion-minded ThinkFoodGroup announced the new lease at Disney Springs on Tuesday, May 30. The new Jaleo, which will be Andrés’ biggest one yet, will be designed by Juli Capella (the same person who designed the Jaleo in Bethesda, Md.) and is expected to feature multiple levels.
The original Jaleo opened in downtown D.C. in 1993; five locations have popped up since — all across the D.C. area, in Las Vegas, and in Mexico City.
Expect the same kind of Spanish fare featured at the existing locations, including assorted tapas, specialty paellas, and popular dishes like shrimp sautéed with garlic and chili. There will also be a grab-n-go storefront with Spanish-style sandwiches.
Meanwhile, Andrés spent his Memorial Day weekend in another U.S. paradise: Napa, for its annual BottleRock music festival.
Another member of the ThinkFoodGroup family is also expected to branch out from the District: Mediterranean-themed Zaytinya will be heading to Dallas soon.
