Washingtonian reports that the weeks-old deli and market also houses a “secret” bar, called BackRoom, that’s begun building a constituency via personal invites and online access codes. The Foo Fighters are breaking in The Wharf
DCist reports that world class rock star and fiercely loyal local guy Dave Grohl has signed on to play the grand opening of new music venue, The Anthem, this fall at The Wharf. The Foo Fighters are scheduled to perform at the much larger sibling to D.C.’s iconic 9:30 Club on Thursday, Oct. 12. Tickets for the sure-to-be-sold-out-show go on sale Friday morning. [DCist]
BYO Ethiopian meals arrive at Union Market
Washington City Paper reports that Gorsha, an Ethiopian restaurant that’s adopted the fast-casual, build-your-own-bowl model of service is opening Wednesday inside Union Market. Expect protein-filled injera pockets, Berbere chicken, and some funky stuff (fermented cucumber, pickled shallots, raw tuna). [WCP]
Maketto’s taking reservations for dim sum
Dim sum aficionados can now claim a spot at Maketto before leaving the house. The Atlas District eatery will now accept reservations, either by phone (202-838-9972) or online, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for parties of up to 10.
