Fun and Quirky Father’s Day Deals

Father’s Day is Sunday, June 18, and lots of restaurants are in on the action. Unlike Mother’s Day, where deals are flowing with flowers and mimosas, restaurants are cashing in on dad’s frugality, no care for calorie counts, and laziness (lots of spots are open late).

Here are some of the best deals in town:

For a free meal...

At All Set Restaurant & Bar (8630 Fenton St., Silver Spring, Md.) dad gets a free meal with the purchase of any entree (of equal or greater value) after 4 p.m. The New England-inspired menu includes barbecue ribs with Boston baked beans, shrimp po-boys, and New York strip steak with creamed spinach.

For meeting new friends over bottomless booze...

Georgetown’s Via Umbria (1525 Wisconsin Ave. NW) will host a special brunch (starting at 1 p.m.) around the communal table at the Laboratorio demonstration kitchen on the second floor. Featured menu items include poached eggs with roasted hanger steak, sausage frittata with potatoes and roasted tomatoes, and chocolate mousse with berries and shortbread. Bottomless Aperol Spritz, mimosas, and bloody Marys are included in the $40 ticket price.

For a road trip...

Early Mountain Vineyards (6109 Wolftown-Hood Rd, Madison, Va.) will roll out a two-day gourmet summer spread and “field day” festival with live music on Saturday, June 17 and Sunday, June 18. Expect fried chicken sandwiches, BLTs, and classic potato salad, as well as new releases from the host winery and beer from Charlottesville’s Three Notch’d Brewing Company.

For the guy who loves giveaways...

From 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at City Perch Kitchen + Bar in Bethesda (11830 Grand Park Ave.), is serving spicy baby back ribs with coleslaw and honey-glazed cornbread topped with whipped goat cheese ($28). Golf lovers can enter to win a golf ball and golf bag autographed by Master’s Champion Frank Urban “Fuzzy” Zoeller Jr., as well as a $100 gift card to Tuck Hospitality Restaurants.

Head to the new Sugar Factory (1100 South Hayes St., Arlington), where options include red velvet pancakes, 36-ounce smoking candy goblets, and 18 decadent shakes. Have a big-time splurge with a King Kong Sundae, loaded with 24 scoops of ice cream and all the toppings for $99.

For the beer geek dad...

Rustico has a three-for-$25 take-home bottle special at both its Alexandria and Ballston locations through Sunday, June 18. Guests can mix and match from a list of 25 vintage brews, including Stone IRS 2015, Lindemans Kriek Cuvée René, and Stillwater Rockstar Farmer. The Father’s Day special pricing is only available on to-go sales.

For the Italian lover...

RPM Italian (650 K St. NW) is celebrating with extended holiday hours, its full dinner menu, and a special gift for dad. From noon until 10 p.m., enjoy shareable house specialties like Maine lobster ravioli with spinach pasta and chili flakes, or dry-aged bistecca fiorentina. Every dad will be sent home with a jar of RPM seasoning salt, a recipe for grilling a perfect steak, and a $25 gift card off a future visit.

For getting bombed on bottomless bourbon cocktails...

The Yard at The Ritz-Carlton, Georgetown (3100 South St. NW) will serve up barbecue and bottomless bourbon cocktails supplied by local distillery Jos. A. Magnus & Co. Expect bourbon glazed ribs, maple barbecue chicken thighs, spicy jalapeño cole slaw, and bourbon pecan pies. Tickets are $95 for adults and $45 for children under the age of 12.

The Oceanaire Seafood Room is offering a 6-ounce filet paired with whole steamed lobster, jumbo shrimp scampi, or crab cakes for $69. The restaurant is also extending happy hour pricing on beer, wine, and cocktails for the entire day.

The Watergate Hotel has a cookout planned at Kingbird restaurant, is doing happy hour specials (5 p.m. to 7 p.m.) at The Next Whisky Bar, and manly treatments at Argentta Spa. The $30-per-person “BBQ Brunch” includes options like a grass-fed burger with cheddar, duck confit, and fries. Happy hour deals include a $24 whiskey flight and half-priced cigars. Dads can also get a 60-minute “Whisky Facial” ($175) with Johnny Walker or Jim Beam; tack on a pedicure for $230.

For beer and BBQ...

Juniper Restaurant at the Fairmont (2401 M St. NW) is teaming with DC Brau Brewing Co. for a special brunch from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Expect beer-brined smoked brisket with blueberry barbecue sauce, grilled jumbo shrimp with honey-chili whiskey glaze, beer brats with sauerkraut, and made-to-order omelettes. The cost: $55 per person including DC Brau beer tasting, mimosas, and sparkling wine.
