4935 Bar and Kitchen owner Ashish Alfred has already started renovating the bottom floor of his modern American restaurant and private event space (4935 Cordell Avenue) into George’s Chophouse. Alfred, who also operates neighboring French bistro Duck Duck Goose, plans to add raw bar items and seasonal pastas to the steaks and chops he currently serves to those who reserve the upstairs Loft. George’s is projected to open in August.
Buredo’s now making salads full-time
Washington City Paper reports that fans of the oversized sushi rolls that landed Buredo on the fast-casual dining map can now make said meals into a salad. The local chain is introducing the expanded menu today at the Dupont Circle location. [WCP]
New brewery takes shape in the ‘burbs
Northern Virginia Magazine reports that struggling startup B Chord Brewing Company is now scheduled to open this September after merging with six-year-old Corcoran Brewing Company. The union gets B Chord past all the licensing issues that have stalled its progress, and grants the newcomer access to Corcoran’s veteran brewmaster, Kevin Bills. [NVM}
