FAIRFAX—In honor of its namesake, Mosaic District’s Requin will celebrate Shark Week (July 23 to July 30) with corresponding food and drink specials, including $5 mini croque monsieur and $7 Requin 75 cocktails. Expect to see Discovery Channel programming broadcast at the bar.

HANOVER—Celebrity chef Todd English has signed on to develop a new restaurant for the Maryland Live Casino hotel scheduled to open next year. David’s Cafe by Todd English is projected to operate 24 hours a day and will feature food from around the globe (Pan-Asian cuisine was highlighted in a release). English broke into the local hospitality scene with since-shuttered Olives; his name continues to grace downtown Mexican spot, MXDC.

MULTIPLE LOCATIONSJaleo’s first Sangria Festival runs from Monday, July 17 to Sunday, July 30 at all Jaleos across the U.S. The local outposts will be spotlighting signature blends; Jaleo Bethesda’s got a Ribera Sangria, while D.C.’s pushing a Rosé Sangria.

MT. PLEASANT—New Spanish-inspired eatery Mola debuts happy hour on Tuesday, July 18. Offered from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, specials include $7 house wines, $5 Tinto de Verano (red wine and lemon soda over ice), and $2 off snacks such as patatas bravas.

WOODLEY PARK—Washingtonian reports that Italian-American restaurant Bar Civita will shutter by the end of July after just two years in business.

BLOOMINGDALE—Recent arrival Truxton Inn is going the tiki route through August; just look for the two colorful totem polls flanking the entrance. Some of the new concoctions like the Mai Tai ($13) — featuring Hamilton Jamaican Black Rum, Neisson Eleve Sous Bois Rhum, Giffard Triple Sec, and lime — can be served in a pineapple for $30.

DOWNTOWN—Attention all vegetarian night owls: The plant-based Shouk burger is half off all week from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. (655 K Street NW).

MULTIPLE LOCATIONS—Homegrown sandwich shop Jetties has a new loyalty program at its six locations: Buy nine sandwiches or salads and the tenth is free. Visit during weekdays from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and get double stamped.

WEST END—Michelin-starred Blue Duck Tavern has a rotating lineup of ice cream desserts this month inspired by executive pastry chef Erin Reed’s childhood in Pennsylvania. Right now it’s all about funnel cake ice cream sandwiches with sweet corn ice cream (available through Saturday, July 15).
