IMM Thai, a growing local Thai food chain, quietly opens its latest outpost on Thursday.
Located at 1414 Ninth Street NW, inside the shuttered Chao Ku Chinese space, the two-story spot serves up a lineup of noodles and fried rice dishes.
Reasonably-priced starters ($5.95 to $7.95) include duck rolls and curry puffs, as well as tom yum and tom kha soups. For the main event, there’s spicy eggplant or crispy chicken with roasted chili sauce ($12.95), served with steamed jasmine rice. (See menu below.)
The 50-seat spot features exposed brick, bright yellow chairs, and an intimate wooden upstairs bar with a TV. But don’t expect to get buzzed at first: Due to opening earlier than planned an employee tells Eater a liquor license won’t be ready until some time next month.
There’s another D.C. IMM Thai location in the Atlas District.
Status: Certified open. 1414 Ninth Street NW; website.
