Georgetown's New Sweetgreen Is Three Times Bigger and Fancier Than the Original

The app-enabled outpost is opening this August

Homegrown custom salad slinger Sweetgreen is opening a second location in Georgetown that’s three times bigger and much fancier than its original spot just a few blocks away.

The flagship tavern (3333 M Street NW), which is currently undergoing renovation, provided the then-startup company with just 560 square feet to work out of when the local chain got rolling in summer 2007. Ten years later, the now-nationwide operation is opening its 12th area location (and 25th within the DMV) at 1044 Wisconsin Avenue NW in early August.

The latest store occupies 2,242 square feet, split between the ground floor (1,722 square feet) and a mezzanine (520 square feet) up above. There is also an outdoor patio. In addition to offering the seasonal menu featured at other area locations, the new shop is pursuing expedited service options by accepting both online and mobile orders.

The new restaurant is expected to operate from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.
