MULTIPLE LOCATIONS—DC-based bakeries CakeLove and DC Sweet Potato Cakes are headed to Wal-Mart reports Washington Business Journal. Cake jars from CakeLove will be available in 50-100 stores across the area; DC Sweet Potato Cakes will have its cake in about 250 stores. [WBJ]

NATIONAL HARBOR—TAP Sports Bar at MGM National Harbor is hosting its first-ever beer festival this Saturday, August 19. TAP Beer Festival will feature live music and half a dozen breweries. Cost is $30 for entry, complete with drink ticket booklet and a sample glass for keeps.

GLOVER PARK—Slate Wine Bar + Bistro is five years old this year and is celebrating in style. Thursday, August 24 is the big day — happy hour all night and a $25 wine flight with selections from around the world.
