Shaw’s anticipated Sugar Shack Donuts and Coffee starts slinging sweets on Friday, Aug. 18, but customers will have to wait a few more weeks to get sloshed at its interior bar.

There’s incentive to be among the first in line for the 6 a.m. grand opening at 1932 9th Street NW: the first 50 customers will get a free donut a month for a year. Expect other promos to run through Aug. 20.

The growing East Coast chain, with local outlets in Arlington and Alexandria, will sell an array of funky flavors for the remainder of August, including passionfruit green tea matcha, cookie monster, and peach fuzzy navel.

Also on tap: maple bacon, Chai tea, banana pudding, and mimosa, with toppings ranging from peanut butter cups to cereal.

Weekday hours are 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., ensuring neighborhood millennials in Shaw can get their sugar and caffeine fix before and after work.

A spokeswoman tells Eater the craft-cocktail bar tucked inside, dubbed Nocturne, is “still a few weeks away” from opening. On Thursdays to Saturdays, the shop will mimic bar hours and serve cocktail- and beer-inspired donuts until 2 a.m.

Stay tuned for more details on Nocturne’s other boozy offerings.
