It’s all about the beer
Virginia-based Neighborhood Restaurant Group aims to put its stamp on a new residential complex coming to Southeast in 2019. The local hospitality group behind Bluejacket brewery, and beer-centric restaurants Birch and Barley, Rustico, and The Sovereign, is partnering with real estate operators CAS Riegler and May Development to develop a network of dining and drinking establishments — which may include existing NRG properties “as well as unique offerings from chefs and restaurateurs outside the group’s collection,” per a release — designed to serve the residents of 1401 Pennsylvania Avenue SE.
No word yet on how many restaurants may crop up within the 12,500-square-foot plot in play, but an NRG spokeswoman tells Eater the “partners are confident that an indoor/outdoor beer bar, designed by NRG partner and beer director, Greg Engert, will be an anchor to this new space.”
