Vegetarian drink-, bowl-, and taco-maker Fruitive is building up its presence in the District with a new health food stand.

The Virginia-based chain debuted locally at CityCenter DC in 2015, and now its second area location is scheduled to open next summer right off of Dupont Circle (1330 Connecticut Avenue NW).

The fruit- and vegetable- friendly eatery also operates a trio of locales in hometown Virginia Beach. On the menu: cold-pressed juices (coconut colada, coffee-date), wraps, salads (kale, quinoa), sandwiches (portobello, avocado), waffles, coffees, and custom bowls (acai, banana-peanut butter). The Dupont area is already served by extra green eateries including homegrown salad slinger turned nationwide gathering spot Sweetgreen and New York-based Chop’t. California-born Vitality Bowls began selling its superfood-laced offerings in neighboring Arlington, Virginia earlier this year.

Fruitive, which launched a new lineup of plant-based waffles, bills itself as the first certified organic fast casual restaurant in North America.
