Local restaurateurs Alvaro and Alonso Roche (Bold Bite, Tapabar, 202 Donuts) are incorporating some of their greatest hits into their new store-restaurant Bold Bite Market, expected to debut later this week in the Golden Triangle. The 2,700-square-foot shop (1028 19th Street NW) plans to serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It'll accommodate roughly 80 inside and out.
This means customers will be able to snack on 202's beloved dulce du leche doughnuts in the morning, alongside bagels, breakfast sandwiches, and other foods featured across the Bold Bite family of restaurants.
In addition to the core and rotating sweets brought in from 202 Donuts, the Bold Bite Market breakfast menu includes: bagels with assorted spreads (lox; salted caramel cream cheese; seasonal jams); pancakes (plain; studded with Heath bar bits; layered with bacon); breakfast sandwiches bolstered by half-smokes, cold-smoked burgers, and fried eggs; and a variety of java options, including nitro and cold brew coffee, as well as an espresso bar stocked with locally roasted Vigilante Coffee.
Lunch and dinner will bring more meaty creations familiar to Bold Bite regulars as well as salads. Retail shelves are expected to house ready-made snacks from Tapabar (think: pickled vegetables) and drinks such as iced tea.
Bold Bite Market is projected to operate from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Saturday. The new store is currently scheduled to open Thursday, September 28.
Next up for the Roche brothers: adding fusion eatery Tacoarepa to their collection of restaurants in Bethesda, Maryland.
