Pop-ups

Mobile kitchen Dorjee Momo, which most recently appeared at the pop-up friendly cafe inside Dupont’s Shop Made in DC store, is bunking with fellow Shop Made vendor Bullfrog Bagels for a few months. Washington City Paper reports that Team Dorjee plans to serve dumplings, hot pot, and specialty drinks in the upstairs of Bullfrog’s spot at 317 Seventh Street SE from Saturday, January 27, through the summer.

Temporary shutters

Bethesda Magazine reports that Helen’s, the self-styled Rockville Pike restaurant that moved into the space vacated by Potomac-bound Addie’s, is closed due to a personal injury. Owner/operator Helen Wasserman broke her wrist in late December; she anticipates reopening the dinner-only operation some time next month.

Rocky start in Park View

A commenter on Popville doesn’t have anything good to say about the reception he got at new arrival Taste of Jamaica (3308 Georgia Avenue NW). “I stopped in. Was ignored by guy on cell phone behind counter. Another worker walked in. I asked if they had a menu. They said no. I looked at all the pots on stove boiling. Looked at them. Paused. Then left hungry,” the scout wrote.

Coming attractions

East Moco reports that Caribbean-themed Islands Lounge is on the way in Wheaton, Maryland. The new eatery is replacing now-defunct Ferdinand’s restaurant (11300 Fern Street).
