Reopening report
Local watering hole Quarry House Tavern closed nearly three years ago after a fire ravaged its building; it has bounced around temporary homes ever since. Now the owners of the beloved Silver Spring dive bar insist they’re ready to return home (8401 Georgia Avenue).
“It looks like we’ll be open in mid-late February,” management wrote on social media, adding, “We cannot wait to serve you a burger and beer.”
Coming attractions
Aspiring restaurateurs Carolina McCandless and David Perez are bringing a new taqueria to Takoma Park, Maryland. Cielo Rojo, which is projected to take up residence at 7056 Carroll Avenue before the end of the year, is expected to focus on Mexican street food.
Urban Butcher beefs up brunch
First came the “meat mountain.” Now local restaurant Urban Butcher has turbo charged its Sunday brunch with a three-course meal ($45 per person) featuring charcuterie, beef empanadas, and all-you-can-eat roasted meats and sausages.
