Coming attractions
A tipster tells Popville about ongoing renovations at 2905 Sherman Avenue NW resulting in new signage for Vietnamese restaurant Bun DC. Excited observers are hoping the new eatery is the spin-off Columbia Heights standby Pho Viet mentioned to the Washington Post Express section last fall.
Poke madness continues
Arlnow reports that quick-service restaurant Poke It Up has opened in Pentagon City mall; the shopper-friendly stand serves custom bowls, burritos, and salads. (Food writer Rina Rapuano’s predictions are already coming true.)
Game over for Walters
New Columbia Heights chronicles the troubled history of the spot which most recently housed now-defunct Walters sports bar (3622 Georgia Avenue NW). The co-owners, who pulled the plug on the neighborhood watering hole December 31, urged locals to come up with a suitable replacement. “For anyone with a great idea for a neighborhood bakery, salami shop, tofu factory, hydroponic store, gluten free distillery, EDM dancehall, or any other idea you think Georgia Ave is desperately in need of please feel free to contact us and we can hook you up with the landlord,” the bar crew wrote.
Expansions
Budding local chain Senor Ramon Taqueria is adding a third location in Chantilly, Virginia next month. The company, which specializes in assorted tacos, tostadas, and torta sandwiches, is opening is easternmost outpost across from the Dulles Expo Center (4500 Daly Drive).
