Balkan restaurateur Ivan Iricanin is trying Mexican fare on for size, having signed on to open a new spot dubbed Tacos, Tortas and Tequila in downtown Silver Spring.

The incoming restaurant at 8407 Ramsey Avenue will replace the charcuterie-focused 8407 Kitchen Bar, which closed after a decade last year. Neighborhood blog Source of the Spring first pointed out its posted liquor license application, and Bethesda Magazine confirmed the news.

The move means Iricanin is continuing to blanket the D.C. area with his restaurants, with locations in D.C., Virginia, and now, Maryland. (His Ambar Capitol Hill debuted in 2014, and a second Ambar later followed in Arlington with subterranean Baba bar.)

Stay tuned for menu and ETA details of his latest taco-themed project in Silver Spring as they emerge.

Iricanin heads up Street Guys Hospitality restaurant group and has deep roots in the D.C. food world, having been a former partner at Richard Sandoval’s Masa 14 and El Centro D.F. He’s also got several eateries in his native Serbia.
