The sign is up at Abigail, the new late-night — and possibly all-day — lounge nightlife impresario David Chung is installing in the subterranean space vacated by failed sports bar Buckeye + Bear.
A sign tacked to the window at 1730 M Street NW instructs delivery services to drop packages at the lobby in the adjoining office building. Inside, a glowing screen alerts passersby to the forthcoming arrival of what will presumably be an interactive photobooth. What else awaits down below remains a mystery — at least until Abigail formally debuts next month.
The venue’s existing social media pages don’t reveal much about the new attraction. The company website features little more than the outline of a hummingbird in mid-flight. A companion Facebook page mentions a “beautiful and luxurious lounge,” as well as a “very ostentatious” namesake. And even though zero eye candy has been posted to date, over four dozen followers have already locked on to Abigail’s Instagram account.
