Where to Find Cheap Drinks and Specials on Election Day

Election Day is Tuesday, November 6, and a gamut of restaurants and bars across town are offering everything from patriotic-themed discounts on food and drinks to free coffee to all-day happy hour, with some deals limited to those donning “I Voted” stickers.

Here’s a growing list for where to tune in to potentially game-changing results for the restaurant industry while grabbing a cheap beer or bite:

14K Restaurant and Bar

1001 14th Street NW

The historic hotel’s bar will also host a team of relief dogs in its lobby from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. to alleviate stress around the election season. Giveaways include brunch packages and pizza classes at its incoming Italian restaurant and one grand prize of $1,000 in travel accommodations inclusive of a two-night stay at Ocean’s Edge Resort & Marina in Key West.

Ambar

523 8th Street SE

Known for its Balkan small plates, Ambar will offer happy hour specials from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Election Day. Everything on the happy hour menu, including a variety of drinks and snacks, costs $5.

Ana at District Winery

385 Water Street SE

Wear an “I Voted” sticker and get 20 percent off the entire check at this waterfront restaurant all day.

Bar Deco

717 6th Street NW

The Chinatown bar will host a viewing party on its third floor, complete with $7 Old Fashioneds and Manhattans. There’s also $4 tacos, like pork belly, roasted veggie, and drunken cod, all night.

Barrel

613 Pennsylvania Avenue SE

Barrel is offering $1 Old Fashioned cocktails to guests that show their “I Voted” sticker (one per guest) on Election Day from 4 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Voters from outside of the DMV sporting an “I Voted” sticker for absentee voting or voting in a nearby state can also qualify for the special.

Capitol Cider House

3930 Georgia Avenue NW

A de-stressing event on Election Night at D.C.’s newest cidery includes an hour-long yoga class paired with a tasting flight of four mid-Atlantic ciders. Bring your own mat. 6:30 p.m to 7:30 p.m.

The chain is running an all-day happy hour, with $5 draft beers, $7 house wines, and $8 small plates and flatbreads at its Chinatown and Foggy Bottom locations. Prices are even cheaper at its Virginia outlets.

The destination for craft beers extends its happy hour drink specials on Election Day for guests looking to camp out and watch the results roll in. For a lengthy 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. happy hour, find specials like $4 cans, $5 select drafts, $6 house wines, and $7 mixed drinks.

Dyllan’s Raw Bar Grill

1054 31st Street NW

On top of its typical seafood service, Dyllan’s is giving away complimentary take-home portions of house-made mini muffins (lemon poppyseed, blueberry, carrot currant) on Election Day. Customers with “I Voted” stickers will get $1 off two specialty cocktails: the 1890 Fizz with Sloe gin, amaro, ginger, hopped grapefruit bitters and soda, and the Dizzy Daisy, with mezcal, Bolivian Singani, natural grenadine and Cointreau. Dyllan’s will practice equal coverage with screens showing both CNN and Fox News.

Fish Market

The Old Town restaurant will air results on its 15 TVs while serving $7 cocktails inspired by U.S. presidents who loved their booze: the Ulysses S. Grant Manhattan and the Grover Cleveland Martini. Fish Market will be offering two tacos and fries for $11.99 with fresh shrimp, grilled mahi, or steak.

Green Zone

Free Ilegal Mezcal shots for anyone with an “I voted” sticker while watching results roll in. The Adams Morgan newcomer’s top-selling “F*ck Trump” punch will also be available.

The subterranean Dupont club is offering a free flute of champagne or shot to those donning a voting sticker before midnight.

Hula Girl

Show your “I Voted” sticker at the tropical Shirlington bar and get Spam musubi bite or a Kona Big Wave beer for $1.

Junction Bakery & Bistro

Del Ray’s all-day bakery and cafe is perking up guests wearing a “I Voted” sticker with a free 12-ounce drip coffee.

Liaison Capitol Hill

The Capitol Hill hotel partnered with Republic Restoratives to offer bourbon samples to those wearing a bowtie, along with two cocktails featuring the distillery’s Borough Bourbon. Festivities start at 6 p.m. with drink specials and election screenings all night.

Logan Tavern

1423 P Street NW

From noon to close, the Logan Circle bar is offering election-themed specials and discounted drinks all day. Election coverage and results will be screened on the restaurant’s large projector all day, and those with an “I Voted” sticker can munch on free Logan Tavern campaign trail mix.

MXDC Cocina Mexicana

600 14th Street NW

Slurp $6 Tequila Blanco cocktails on Election Day, each with MXDC Cordial, fresh lime and agave. The Statesman gets its color from Blue Curacao, while The Patriot swings red thanks to strawberry-guava puree.

The downtown steak and seafood spot kicks off an early bird happy hour starting at 11:30 a.m. (when the restaurant opens) until 6:30 p.m. Check out the happy hour menu, which includes $5 beers and $10 small plates, here.

TVs will be tuned in to the election results and the bar will extend happy hour drink specials all night long ($3 local draft beers, $5 wines, and $5 house spirits) at this Adams Morgan neighborhood watering hole. The bar will also run its weekly Tuesday ‘Geek Night’ discount on large-format bottled beers, available all night at half-price. A special $9 blue Negroni joins the cocktail menu for the night (in addition to the classic red Negroni).

Slate Wine Bar + Bistro

2404 Wisconsin Avenue NW

The Glover Park restaurant will run its happy hour drink menu from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. for people who can prove they voted. Draft beers will cost $4 to $5, and wines by the glass —including a house sparkling rosé — are $7. Signature cocktails will cost $8 at the bar only.

The Bird

Dishes inspired by the cuisine of swing states ($5 to $10) include a Kentucky hot brown with confit turkey, bourbon pecan pie as an ode to Georgia, Florida shrimp and grits with house-made chorizo, and a pretzel with cheese sauce for Pennsylvania. Show up with an “I Voted” sticker and receive The Bird’s Moscow Mueller for $4. Other drink specials run $8.

Quill is offering its $11.06 The Citizen cocktail for those who voice their vote on Tuesday, November 6. The prosecco-topped drink features house-made limoncello, lemon juice and chocolate bitters.
