Park View newcomer Sonny’s plans to start slinging square pizzas by the end of the year. The owners of Colony Club next door are just putting the final touches on the menu and a fun design that features a bar car and leafy palm trees out back of the new spot at 3120 Georgia Avenue NW.
The space is pretty sizable, with seating for 250 people and front and back patio areas. An adjoining bar and garden, dubbed No Kisses, is also part of the project.
While the owners are still finalizing the menu, a rep tells Eater the lineup largely includes “re-imagined” Italian-American classics. Playing up local ingredients is also a big theme, with dishes made from produce procured at nearby farms and its own garden.
Its signature square-shaped pies feature four to six options, both by the slice and whole pie. Diners will also be able to customize their own pizza creations.
Non-pizza orders will include sandwiches on house-made bread, including chicken parmesan and meatball on focaccia, and vegetarian options. There’s also sharable appetizers and salads, and a desserts list calls for tiramisu and cannoli.
Colony Club brought nearby residents a new all-day destination for coffee and cocktails upon opening in 2015. Park View recently got another hot addition with this fall’s opening of Call Your Mother.
