Community building organization the Wave is putting on a pop-up bar at Red Lounge (2013 14th Street NW) this weekend designed to immerse attendees in the make-believe world of Marvel’s next big superhero film, Black Panther.

The “Enter Wakanda” pop-up is scheduled to take place from Friday, February 16, till the early hours of Monday, February 19, coinciding with the release of the continuing saga of tortured heroes that battle against evildoers in the growing web of blockbuster flicks that now invade movie theaters on a regular basis. According to a blurb on the Wave’s website, the temporary experience is scheduled to include corresponding food and drink specials, “interactive set pieces,” art installations, and guest DJs from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. nightly.

“Costumes are encouraged but not required,” Team Wave alerts interested cosplayers.

Ticketed admission is offered in two hour blocks from 6 p.m. to midnight on Friday, February 16, from noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, and from noon on Sunday, February 18, to 2 a.m. on Monday, February 19. Tickets range from $5 to $10 depending on the admission time.

Other D.C. bars have had fun with movie tie-ins as well, including the Star Wars-themed “Dark Side Bar” Mythology welcomed last fall.
