The expansion to Arlington that homegrown chain Delia’s announced back in December is nearly complete, clearing the way for the self-described Mediterranean grill and brick-oven pizzeria to begin serving customers at 2931 S. Glebe Road within the next few weeks.

Arlnow reports that Oliver Garnowski, the general manager of the forthcoming eatery, expects to have the Arlington Ridge location up and running by mid-March. Garnowksi tells Arlnow that the latest outpost — Delia’s also has restaurants in Springfield, Virginia (its flagship), Alexandria, and Sterling — will feature alternative menu items and more daily specials than the Alexandria spot.

Current menu offerings range from fried zucchini fritters and orders of sheep’s milk cheese that’s flambeed tableside to moussaka, braised lamb shank, and gourmet pizzas with various specialty toppings (pesto chicken, zesty chorizo, prosciutto).

The new Delia’s is replacing Tazza Kitchen, a chain in southern Virginia that melds Tex-Mex fare (smoked pork nachos, assorted tacos) with gourmet pies and modern American cuisine (seared scallops with sweet potato risotto, bone-in pork chops with roasted leeks).
