Navy Yard brewery Bluejacket is selling its first batch of canned beers starting at noon on Friday, March 2. Beer director Greg Engert plans to make available 100 cases per week of select brews — starting with American-style IPA Lost Weekend ($15 per four-pack of 16 ounce cans) — with members of the subscription-based Officers’ Club allowed to reserve up to three cases per month.

Patio season

Waterfront-facing Salt Line is hopping on the “let’s jump-start spring” bandwagon by re-opening its outdoor bar on Thursday, March 1. Find select discounted draft beers and house wines ($5 each), plus draft cocktails ($7) from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on weekdays when the Washington Nationals are not playing at home.

A tipster sent Popville pictures of the menu at Sweetpea’s, a new soul food restaurant currently taking shape in Park View (2851 Georgia Avenue NW). Planned offerings include barbecue chicken sandwiches, fried whiting, and rice with gravy.

Crimewire

Bethesda Magazine reports that an unidentified man tried to pass a counterfeit $100 bill earlier this month at frozen yogurt chain Sweet Frog. When the store employee called him out, the man flashed a badge, said he was a cop, requested the fake bill back, and then ran from the store when the employee did not back down.
