ADAMS MORGAN—Local chain Pitango‘s newest cafe, which was just inducted into a selective prosciutto specialists’ group, has a new happy hour menu starting Monday, February 12. From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily, find snacks like mini Italian meat-and-cheese sandwiches for $5 along with $6 cocktails and wines.

H STREET—Clothing and coffee mecca Maketto (1351 H Street NE) just hit 20,000 followers on Instagram. To celebrate, its half-off winter sale is extended through Sunday, February 11; there’s also a new $35 tasting menu that includes two dishes and a dessert.

PENN QUARTER—José Andrés’ upscale drinking destination Barmini just launched a throwback cocktail flight featuring funky drinks presented on a Candy Land-style baord. A “Saturday Morning Cartoons” creation features brandy, angostura cereal, caramelized milk, vanilla, and cartoons. The limited-run flight includes seven half-cocktails and costs $95 per person.

PETWORTH—The former Straw, Stick & Brick space is getting a second life as a pasta spot/supplier of West Virginia’s famous pepperoni rolls. Popville reports that new restaurant Pepperoni Chic appears to be destined for 5111 Georgia Avenue NW.

14TH STREET CORRIDORNow through Friday, February 9, $1 from the sale of every slice of Ocean Prime’s 10-layer carrot cake will be donated to No Kid Hungry. And all proceeds of chef Jason Shelley’s special 20-layer carrot cake slice, a towering $50 treat that feeds up to 12, will go to charity.

FOGGY BOTTOM—On Tuesday, February 6, the Watergate Hotel is throwing a Women and Whisky party sponsored by Dewar’s. Guests are being asked to pay 77 cents to acknowledge the existing wage gap facing women for every $1 earned by their male counterparts. Expect food, whiskey cocktails, and music from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

MULTIPLE LOCATIONS—Produce delivery service From the Farmer just launched a “Supper Club” meal kit delivery service featuring local products. Seasonal offerings include shrimp tacos with tomatillo, as well as ginger sweet potato fritters.

NATIONAL HARBOR—MGM Casino restaurant Ginger is marking Chinese new year by running specials on steamed bass, golden crab, and rice cake and red bean soup with rice dumplings through Thursday, March 15.

SHAW—Homegrown Buttercream Bakeshop is selling limited edition fudge brownies depicting women in politics and pop culture. Dubbed Women Crush Wednesday Bars, each confection has a special message; former first lady Michelle Obama’s reads “When they go low we go high.” A box of six ($24) features whipped coconut pudding buttercream. Available for pick-up in store from Saturday, February 10 to Wednesday, February 14.
