Budding local chain Colada Shop wants to maintain its status as a 14th Street hot spot by installing an all-night happy hour on Thursdays and serving up pouched cocktails on its tropical rooftop.
A new “Havana Nights” event every Thursday (starting April 12) at both its D.C. and Sterling locations will feature an all-night happy hour from 4 p.m. to close with $6 cocktails, $2 empanadas, and Caribbean tunes.
Starting on Friday, April 13, its rooftop garden will open on weekends and serve up pouched cocktails (such as the Babalu, Guava Daiquiri, and Rum Mule) for $10; pineapple sparkling sangria and mojito pitchers for $35; and all-day bites like empanadas, pastelitos, and croquetas. A photo of the space was not immediately available, thanks to the snow this week.
The rooftop, a shared space with neighbor Bresca’s herb garden, is projected to operate Fridays from 4 p.m to close, and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. The rooftop will remain open, weather permitting, the rest of the week from Monday to Wednesday with regular service.
A year after debuting inside the District, Colada Shop hopes to open a third TBA shop by the end of 2018 — with plans to add more locations the following year, co-owner Daniella Senior tells Eater.
It’s not the only venue in D.C. to expand outdoor programming this spring. Navy Yard’s the Salt Line is adding a new outdoor lounge area with more room for raw bar offerings and drinks.
