Budding chains Philz Coffee, Shake Shack, and We, the Pizza have signed leases to open new eateries at the office complex currently taking shape right across the street from Ballston’s restaurant-packed Quarter Market food hall.
Real estate developer Jamestown has carved out 3,923 square feet of indoor/outdoor space for Shake Shack; 2,058 square feet for Philz Coffee’s debut coffeehouse in Virginia; and 1,894 square feet for the third pizza shop from Top Chef alum Spike Mendelsohn in the area. The new restaurants, which will take up residence in the ground floors of the buildings currently being renovated at 4201 Wilson Boulevard and 4121 Wilson Boulevard, are projected to open by the end of the year. Homegrown chain Cava is scheduled to open a 2,568-square-foot restaurant at 4121 Wilson Boulevard as well. The two buildings are slated to be connected by a pedestrian friendly walkway.
Meanwhile, 18 other restaurants are projected to open inside the neighboring dining hub that’s replacing a former shopping mall. The first phase of that 25,000, square-foot food hall is scheduled to open this fall.
