Reopening report
The Washington Post reports that displaced watering hole Quarry House Tavern is finally returning to its original home (8401 Georgia Avenue) in Silver Spring, Maryland on Sunday, March 11. Owner Jackie Greenbaum is taking advantage of the bigger kitchen now in place post-renovation to bring in burgers from sibling establishment Slash Run in Petworth, and possibly the fried chicken served at her now-defunct eatery, Jackie’s.
Meanwhile, the flagship Bethesda Bagels at 4819 Bethesda Avenue is scheduled to resume operation on Wednesday, March 7 following a recent renovation. The biggest change: a new grill.
Opening report
A tipster tells Popville that Hype Cafe is now open on Capitol Hill. The neighborhood eatery (1129 Pennsylvania Avenue SE) serves pastries and coffee.
Developments
Jennifer Carroll, the Top Chef alum who abruptly cut ties with local restaurateur Mike Isabella last summer, has a new restaurant in the works in her hometown of Philly. The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that Carroll and her fiance, fellow chef Billy Riddle, are opening Mediterranean-style bistro the Finch inside the Warwick Hotel. Carroll tells Eater she plans to keep her existing catering company and is still developing a new dining venture for D.C. (stay tuned).
