Tax Day is Tuesday, April 17, and bars and restaurants all over town are rolling out deals to take everyone’s mind off the dreaded filing deadline. Some discounts are targeted at customers getting a sizable refund — while others can simply drown their sorrows (at a reduced price) after cutting a check to Uncle Sam.
Here are some restaurants giving customers a break this Tuesday.
BLT Steak
1625 Eye Street NW
The downtown steakhouse is offering half-off all alcoholic drinks all day, including beers, wines by the bottle and by the glass, and its full list of cocktails. It’s also a prime time to try beverage director James Nelson’s new “Drink Your Veggies” batch of vegetable-based cocktails.
Brabo
1600 King Street, Alexandria, Va.
This neighborhood restaurant will offer “tax relief” for guests by covering the tax on all alcoholic beverages for the day, including cocktails, beer, and wine.
Carmine’s
425 Seventh Street NW
Two all-day drink specials are priced a $10.40 a pop: The Refund Rejoice (a pomegranate spritzer), and Bitter Sting Negroni. Rather eat? The stuffed chicken Parmesan sandwich with a side salad (Caesar or mixed greens) is $10.40 (normally $14.95).
The Hamilton Hotel
1001 14th Street NW
As an ode to the rising national deficit, a new “$1.4 Trillion Dollar Cocktail” comes with Absolut Elyx, blood oranges, elderflower liquor, and passion fruit juice, served at the hotel’s restaurant and bar, 14k Restaurant, and priced at $14.
Joe’s Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab
750 15th Street NW
Find an extended cocktail hour, running from 11:30 a.m. (normally 2:30 p.m.) until 6:30 p.m., with half-price cocktails, wines by the glass, draft beers, and oysters on the half-shell, as well as various bar bites.
Oceanaire
1201 F Street NW
The upscale restaurant is offering half-off any bottle of wine with the purchase of two entrees.
Osteria Morini
301 Water Street SE
The Navy Yard mainstay is extending its $15 lunch special, which includes any pasta and a glass of beer or wine, for the entire day.
