Mobile kitchen Sloppy Mama’s BBQ is unveiling its new daily breakfast burritos Wednesday, April 18 at U Street watering hole Solly’s.
The local food truck, which has also been selling its smoked meats and picnic-style sides at Union Market and Solly’s during lunch and dinner, is adding breakfast to its agenda with the latest offerings. Sloppy Mama’s founder Joe Neuman says the new additions, which were inspired by a challenge issued by a friend on the West Coast, will be filled with choice of protein (brisket, pulled pork, bacon, or tofu), eggs, French fries, cheese, and either red or green chile sauce.
“Last year when we were recipe testing for the breakfast burritos a friend that lives in San Diego sent me a picture of an awesome looking burrito with fries in it and recommended we do it with bbq,” Neuman says. Sloppy Mama’s rolled out a version last fall on Solly’s brunch menu and liked the results. The burritos ($10 to $13 each) will be accompanied by a side of breakfast potatoes.
The breakfast burritos are scheduled to to sold from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 am daily. They will be available for carry-out at Solly’s (1942 11th Street NW) or for delivery via Uber Eats.
