A new patio attached to the back of Bloomingdale cocktail den Truxton Inn is now open, providing more room for locals to drink, lounge, and perhaps partake in its new menu.
The outdoor addition adds 40 more seats to the mix; its interior 50-seat space brought the neighborhood a new upscale drinking option upon its debut about a year ago. Bar manager Brian Nixon is rolling out a new lineup of rosés and white wines by the bottle and glass for customers to sip al fresco (weather permitting) beneath strings of lights.
Its cocktail menu has two sides — one for classic cocktails, and the other for Nixon’s versions of those same cocktails. In May, Nixon plans to unveil a new assortment of cocktails on the “suggestions” side, while best sellers like the JFK on Vacay and the Congressman’s Lunch will stay put as “recommendations.”
The bar, owned by Matt Weiss (McClellan’s Retreat, Barrel), features a sexy-cool librarian vibe via a sleek hunter green bar top, books on cocktail culture, globes, and worn-in leather and velvet seating atop oriental carpets. There’s also bar snacks including assorted kolache, flavored popcorn, and charcuterie plates.
D.C. recently got another outdoor drinking option last week with the addition of Hill Prince’s new back bar.
